I'm going to get my new (to me) 66 plate FFRR paint corrected and ceramic coating applied soon. The paintwork currently looks quite dull, I think the previous owner must have taken it to his local road side car wash every week where harsh chemicals have been applied.

Just a couple of questions:

1. How long should ceramic coating last once applied?
2. The rear bumper on my FFRR looks slightly duller than the rest of the paintwork, does this area normally dull or should I assume it's been resprayed.

Paint should be exactly the same really - unless it's been primered a really light colour and/or poorly painted over.

Would you mind sharing your experience with the full detail/polish and treatment - where you get it done, how long it takes, rates, results, etc? I might be in the market myself

Will do verydisco - aiming to get done early next month

I'm looking to get mine done and keep putting it off. Not convinced that spending £800.00+ is the right thing to do. As yet I'haven't washed mine since I got it 4 weeks ago and 1k miles so need to do go for it.
Will be interested to hear other's experience in terms of value and labour saving.

To be honest, if you have the time, it really is easily done for a fraction of that cost. If you go for it, you are paying for a lot of manual work to get rid of paint defects before any sealant is applied. Makes a huge difference if done properly, I spend roughly 2 days on any car I’ve bought, do it right, means a much better longevity of the final coat. Never knew they charged that much for the service though! Might have a wee sideline on the go soon.....

I did it on my TDV8 L322 4/5 years ago, I was shocked by the results (Santorini) and the long lasting protection. The price is high, but the lads spent 3 full days on it, treating it all including inside the wheels.

I did not have to wash the car for 12 months afterwards, I just power washed it down once a week and never touched the body with a sponge as grime simply left with the power washer. Even brake dust did not stay on the wheels. They used G-techniq products.

Top stuff really, I am not sure where the rates are nowadays and who do give my cash to! l=Oo\________/oO=l l:OolΞΞΞΞΞΞΞloO:l

Having my new car done on Monday. It'll take 3 days according to the man doing it and he uses Gyeon and G-Techniq. I Have been quoted under £800, but that doesn't include the interior (which it doesn't need as car only built 16th March!)

I had the wife’s new FF VSE, 5 year G tech coated by a local guy last month. The results were absolutely brilliant for a day or so before the weather kicked in! £800 is a lot of money in anyone’s book, he had the car for 3 days and sent me full details of the process as he was doing it. Might be all smoke and mirrors, but for me, the guy was honest and did a really good job. letting someone who knows what he’s doing spend 3 days doing his thing also works out a lot more cost effective than my time !

£20k focus, wouldn’t bother, £80/90k FFFR totally justified £800 imo

I was a bit of a cynic, but had mine done - just one day though as it was all I had time for before heading to Andorra for the winter.

When I collected it, the car looked amazing - better than new, but the guy apologised and said it would look better if I’d given him some more time but that the ceramic seal would be perfect for the winter

Anyway, I didn’t wash it for 4 months during which it lived in a ski resort, albeit mostly in a covered garage, but spent plenty of time out on the road and did a return trip to Barcelona airport every other week, so I’d call it terminally dirty.

As I was heading down the mountain a couple of weeks ago, the bonnet looked embarrassingly filthy.

When I got to Bordeaux it rained all day then I gave it a quick wash by hand and I have to admit that it seemed a very easy wash and the car came up gleaming

I have no idea how long it will last - and I’ve hardly followed the recommended cleaning regime- but so far so good

Ive had my wifes last two D4’s & my last 322 detailed and “Syramik” coated and it makes cleaning them a breeze...

Well worth the cost IMHO...

We had a Ferrari done 3yrs ago and that took 4 days because it was black & 15yrs old! That also came up MINT! & still is...
And finally, we had a Red Ferrari 355 spider done 2 weeks ago. Again, well worth the money

Bill Filters are in fact so good that in certain circumstances, when the ambient air is already polluted, a diesel car will tend to extract more particles from the air than it emits. Emissions Analytics worked with........etc etc

Yes - Mine was 4 years old

He removed all the scratches and cleaned up the paintwork first then the sealant went on top of that.
