Delayed Delivery Dates

The delivery date for my 2018 5.0 SC Autobiography has been delayed once again!

This is the fourth time my delivery date has been moved back, firstly from the 31 of January, to the 1st of March then to the 27th of April, now it's apparently coming on the 6th of June 18!

Having placed the order in September 2017, I thought I would have been one of the first to take delivery - Obviously not!

Originally I was told that it was because I'd ordered a 5.0 petrol which was causing the delay - Now this is the excuse I've being given today. This has come from Solihull via my dealer:

‘’ Re latest communications confirm (300PA) 24-way heated and cooled, massage front seats with Executive Class rear seats(032BV) Leather Steering Wheel(088HF) Veneer-Shadow Walnut is constrained therefore orders will move backwards in build.’’

Has anyone else heard this?

No, but I’d be very annoyed if I had.

They miss the point....

They are destroying your joy...

Censored ‘em borrow a high end 4x4 and pay a visit to show them what you will buy if it doesn’t come soon... at least p...s them off a bit, Would make me feel better.

Try phoning another RR. dealer , they may be wanting to shift their quota, I find it impossible to deal with my local dealer and have yet to buy a car for them.

The operative word is constrained, my guess he who shouts the loudest might win.... Filters are in fact so good that in certain circumstances, when the ambient air is already polluted, a diesel car will tend to extract more particles from the air than it emits. Emissions Analytics worked with........etc etc

Thanks Bill & Trommel.... You're absolutely right, I am annoyed / disappointed and they have destroyed my joy. I find this happens so often with the car buying experience, either due to faults, delays or general "don't care attitude" - I'm sure I'm not the only one to have suffered this.

I've spoken with my wife this morning and we've decided to cancel my order, instead look for a good used 5.0 SC AB and put the saving towards a Rolls Royce Dawn planned for late this year early next.

The dealer probably won't care as I was getting an 8% discount, something they won't have to give to someone else.

If anyone has or knows anyone wanting to sell on a cherished 5.0 SC AB (must be green or blue with Ivory leather and no privacy glass), please let me know.

The dealer should care

- they’ve lost a sale and, possibly, a customer.

But sadly they don’t seem to.

Madness.

Hope you quickly find what you’re after. What do I put here then?

I'd hazard a guess that the full price orders will take priority over any discount orders - an 8% discount is massive and would equate to virtually no profit on that vehicle. 2021 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 V8 DIESEL ~ #17

That's probably why they keep delaying it - I doubt they'll be disappointed - All they've done is waste my time!

I don’t think they delay for 8 percent , they will make money on warranty and servicing

However. Look on the bright side, you will enjoy looking all over again...

Then adding up how much u saved...

For example this blue one ...not sure if it’s the my18 spec, if not shortly will be.

http://www.usedvehicles.landrover.co.uk/search#/details/2835511. 100 miles on the clock £99K, means 90K

Or

A few of these, this a very nice red one with 800 miles at £130,000- my bet is you could knock one of those for about 115k

You will have so much fun looking and in a few months time get an 18 plate to boot.... Filters are in fact so good that in certain circumstances, when the ambient air is already polluted, a diesel car will tend to extract more particles from the air than it emits. Wow, that’s really disappointing for you aja500. Can understand why you feel they’ve tested your patience to the limit.

I’ve been through similar loops so many times while mine is on order ( I still have absolutely NO date* at all, just a vague “probably March”) but apart from a pre owned RR I couldn’t find anything else I wanted . For our use, the “estate” part is highly important as we have a largish dog.

However having got out of a troublesome 2017 MY car, I really didn’t want another 2017.

If the reasons behind your delay are true and you’re not being fobbed off then I fear my order will also be delayed as everything listed except the veneer are specced on mine too..

Good luck with your search, hope it all works out for you eventually.

* I am meant to be being kept informed as to the various commitment point dates just to make a final spec commitment but so far I’ve heard nothing. But I’m running around in the dealers 67 plated 3.0 Vogue so to an extent it does ease the pain...

I ordered a MY18 SC in November and was originally given a build date of mid April, delivery May. Dealer informed me today that the build is next week so should be March delivery. Not sure if I believe them as they aren't the most competent bunch!

Five-month delay is a Censored joke! My SVR has been delayed from end of March delivery to end of May and i,m not happy.

You have done the right thing in canceling.

Very poor JLR. Censored
