Which TDV8

After 6 years and 130L miles im thinking of getting rid of my 2002 4.4 V8 LPG, what are the thoughts on 3.8 and 4.4 TDV8. Do any have an inherent problem? Which is more tuneable? Anything to look out for on 2010-12 cars. Thanks guys One day your life will flash before your eyes......................................make sure yours is worth watching!

The 4.4 is the better engine, plus it's got a better 8 speed box, returns higher MPG and in the opinion of many doesn't need tuning as it has so much grunt to start with. My last L322 was a 4.4 tdv8 and it was faultless over 69k miles.

My previous one - not the 4.4, had endless trouble with Brake Callipers needing replacement, there seemed to be issues with the Callipers fitted to the pre 2010 facelift, and this was solved with the 4.4 and larger Callipers being fitted. 2021 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 V8 DIESEL ~ #17

Just be careful if you do small and often journeys, as the DPF on the 4.4 might start to give you problems. Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue
Had- 2008 TDV8 Vogue SE in Java black
Had - 2007 S/C in Stornoway Grey

I have the TDV8 and do lots of small journeys.

DPF isn't a problem as long as you do one good 20 min, 40mph+ run every week or two.

Worst case you just do it when the amber DPF Full warning comes on. What do I put here then?

Thanks guys, I have a snap on diagnostic machine so can regen the dpf manually if needed. What is the highest spec? Is it the autobiography? Just missed one with brand new engine from RR done 2K miles, car showing 60 something for 20K. One day your life will flash before your eyes......................................make sure yours is worth watching!

I need it for towing a shuttle with my GTR in so its a bit weighty and TDV8 grunt seems the sensible way to go.
