I managed to contact the previous owner of the RR today- his number was on 192.com. I asked him about the car and he told me he'd had problems with it (que lump in throat). He said that when he owned the car, it developed a splutter and he had to have it fixed. He then said that the electrics packed up on the drivers seat, resulting in another visit to the $tealer. He also said the fuel guage was faulty, and never read below half. Now, when I test drove this the other day, it was fine- the seat worked OK, the engine was smooth and the fuel guage was reading empty. When I told him about the guage he suggested it must have been fixed, as it never showed empty when he had it.


he also said it vibrates at around 70mph. Looking here, it seems to be a common problem?

On the plus side, he said it was a lovely car and he misses it!

Now, to me, that's not the sign of a faulty car having 3 faults with it. He obviously thought different though, especially as he took it to LR every time.

Just hope we haven't bought a lemon!

RRs get one or 2 glitches which need sorting out every now and then and just go with owning one of the greatest cars on the road. There are alot of electrics so occassionaly this can cause a visit to a garage. If you didnt fancy that you would have picked something japanese?

I agree, don't be worried. Any car can have its faults, RR's are not immune.

in some circumstances ignorance is bliss, if you'd not spoken to him you wouldn't be concerned at all right?

Did you ask him how long he kept the car? thats a good measure of whether its a lemon or not.

Initial impressions? The drive home along the windy roads by Buxton must've been awesome! I had an ear to ear grin. PLEASE DO TELL!!!

Ok- I came back down the M6 and had it up to around 90- no sign of any vibration at all

Seats worked perfectly, so I guess that was fixed as well. Fuel guage seems to work ok too? It was on empty when I picked it up, and I put £50 in the tank and it went up to just over half. By the time I'd got home (45 miles) it hadn't moved!

Engine is silky smooth and pulls like a train. Very impressed!

I was smiling all the way home. I thought I was going to miss the BMW, but no sooner I got on the M6 and cranked up the radio, I was hooked!!

It was made all the better when I got home and had a play with all the little gadgets, like lights on after exiting the car- something I've never had before. This will be a bonus for when my wife drives it and arrives home in the dark.

The TV picture is scrambled though- can't get a decent picture. Might be me, but I will have a proper go in the morning.

TV pic will depend on signal strength, I find that different areas of town give me better (or worse) picture...

Yeah, I've noticed this too. On my driveway, it's not too bad, but if I drive up the road, it's an improvement. It's never going to be HD quality though!
