Australia 2007 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8 Java Black
2011 TDV8 thoughts

I am thinking of putting in an offer on a late 2011 TDV8 with 125000 miles on the clock. As corrosion is pretty non-existent here my only concerns are the higher miles. Can anyone with a similar higher mile car put my mind at rest that nothing major is likely to go bang? Any pointers for areas to look at. There is no DPF here, I don't know when the turbo drain was updated so would this year be suspect. Are there any special service items that should have been covered at the higher mileage. I am also confused about the towing plug, it has a Towbar but no apparent electrics. Does this model need a tow module like earlier cars? The price is right so I am very keen to check it out. I have tried using Topix and it won't let me play so if there is anyone able and willing to run the Vin through who could pm the results. 2007 TDV8 VSE

You will need to check for the turbo drain mod on them all. None of them had it done at the factory.

Hi, Wayneg

If you see another 2010-2012 L322 with that sort of mileage you should grab it, Apart from the oil/cooler heat exchanger sitting on top of the V which is failing at this time? you will not have many big problems,
I bought mine with 103k on the clock with flakey service history so I set about changing all of the oils in everything that could be drained and refilled, If you can work some spanners you will be okay looking after it your self and don't forget your IID tool
which is worth its weight in gold, there is plenty of help on this forum.

I myself have driven all over OZ in trucks and 4x4 hire cars, a well looked after L322 will go for a long time, then so will most other makes if well looked after, having 8-speed gearbox pays dividends on your roads and fuel consumption is far better than
a Landcruiser with a similar size engine?

The tow-bar frame was standard fitment, on Oz at least, but not the electrics. Mine needed the harness but unlike earlier L322s it does not use a trailer module, with only a plug to connect.

There was a change to the secondary air inlet isolation valve early in the MY11 production run but just a swap over to the later design if it begins to stick.

MY12 here had the upgraded audio as standard equipment.

Thanks all for the input, I am feeling I should have got to the seller as soon as I saw the add. There are very few 4.4V8 diesel in Western Australia so very little choice and mostly high prices, a fair bit more than I am willing to pay.
GraemeS, glad to hear its just a plug and harness for the trailer wiring. For future reference would you know if the bulb out system causes LED trailer lights to flash constantly and also is there a plug up front for an electric brake controller? 2007 TDV8 VSE

I have load resistors on my caravan to ensure that the car knows the van is attached but don't have resistors on my box trailer. The only flashing is when the driver's door is closed, not the constant flashing done by D3s.

No brake controller plug exists. I fitted and wired a Tow-Pro in the rear fuse area, only running the control lead forward.

When I was looking for a 4.4 one surfaced in Perth. The salesman said that it would be gone within 24 hours so no time for me to inspect before placing a deposit. It was gone within 24 hours. With mine, I had made an offer but the salesman wanted $2K more to beat a trade offer. It was reportedly sold then a month later it re-appeared on a Sunday without pictures so I offered their earlier minimum price (a big reduction on the advertised price yet only done 19K kms) which was accepted. Whilst still on the phone someone walked into the showroom and wasn't happy that the car had just been sold as it had only just been re-listed - sometimes you have to be quick. Happy hunting!

PS. The trailer loom needs to be modified at the inside plug to redirect the 2nd parker light wire to electric brakes.

Another enthusiast on here got that one inspected. It had a few problems, like an oil leak in the valley, contamination in the coolant, EGR faults and turbo actuator stuck. But was the cheapest 4.4 I’ve seen here at $40k. And a very nice colour combo. ______________________________
