Hand brake cable

Probably a daft question but are the cables on an l322 known to stretch. done the handbrake shoe adjustment a couple off times everything is clean and free and new shoes but not happy with height of handbrake before it actually locks shoes. don't want to adjust at wheels too much because drums gets warm. And adjusted as per procedure recommended. Last option is cable but often read that not much better afterwards. Or is cable stretching another of the little niggles that are known to be a problem.

Yes the handbrake cables gradually stretch over time resulting in longer handbrake travel and ineffective handbrake operation. Unfortunately there is no means of adjustment to compensate for this stretching which tends to mean new cables are required. Thumbs Up

I just use it whilst driving traffic lights etc.

Over night I leave the handbrake off, in park. So that the tension is removed from the cable.
Hopefully will last longer before changing the cables again.
