Less then three grand for an L322. Might be doable mate, but doubt it will be a good one.

If you want a good one you will need to add a couple thousand to that budget Smile otherwise you will be spending a few thousand putting it right. 2003 Range Rover 4.4 Litre V8 - Adriatic blue

Agreed. For a decent td6 you probably need to double that budget and remember these aren't cheap cars to run.

If the gearbox fails for example (as they often do) you could be looking at a 2.5k repair bill to put it right.

As above they start t about that figure for slightly ropey ones, and go up from there. There are some out there on Ebay at that sort of money, but they are all looking a bit tired.

Have a read of the wiki on here as there is a guid of what to look out for, but for a TD6 the main thing is asking if the gearbox has been changed. Thumbs Up There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Hey Danny, all I can say is read the many many buyer stories on here and look for the best one you can find. At this price range though you are going to be looking at some real unloved sheds and you could easily blow double your budget in your first year just maintaining it. As a P38 owner then you are well aware of the pitfalls, so go in with your eyes open. Unfortunately I reckon your budget is what most of us on here expect to use on annual maintenance and most of the cars on here are already well maintained and cherished!

We are starting to see a raft of early ones with serious rot in the subframes, and lower body panels (particularly under all the protective trim and in the wheel arches), so be careful out there.

I'd also recommend a petrol over a diesel at this price point - that way you can reduce (but not completely eliminate) any risk around the gearbox. Current Fleet:-

I bought a fixer upper 2003 TD6 for £1000 with a goosed engine which was 1/2 what it was worth but I still have over 3k in it fixed and running but it's 2 owner car with loads of history, gearbox done 3 years ago, suspension done last year ,never failed a test and the only advisories on any MOT were low tyres , now has a low mileage engine bought from a seen running BMW 330D

By the time I get it to where I want it I can see me having 5k in it, mostly cosmetic, the interior needs some love

If you can find something that needs work and know someone cheap and reliable who can fix it your budget might be doable if you get it cheap enough but having done some reading on here most 3k cars will have problems, declared or not.

As above, nearer £5 for one thats half decent. If it needs a new/recon box that'll cost maybe £1,500 straight away so your £3000 is already £4500
