Key assignment issue...

Hi chaps, hoping someone can give me some advice regarding a 'key' issue I'm having.

Basically when I purchased my car (2005 TD6) it came with 2 keys. One of which was old and worn that was being used daily, the other was a new one which the owner told me hadn't yet been assigned to the car.
Anyway, I chucked the new one into my draw and carried on with the old worn one for the next 12 months.

Today I decided it was time to assign the new key and start using that as the older one is just about at the end of its life. So I followed all the Instructions perfectly and hey presto, the new key works a treat... strangely though the older one now doesn't... so I went through the process again to reassign the older key and that worked fine, old key now works....but then the newer one didn't.

Basically I can only one key to be assigned to the car, not both...

Where have I gone wrong chaps ??

Thanks, Matt.

I did try that, paired both keys one after the other in quick succession.

Whichever key I paired last would work while the first one would not. I tried it both ways, firstly with the new key last and then the old key...

Aren't the keys numbered? It sounds like both of your keys are the same number...? 2010 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE
