A job you may want to do - CLEAN ALL THE Winters Grime out of the engine bay

also shows if you have any leaks anywhere as you can see all the pipes & hoses - besides its as new again

A Clean Engine - Runs Cooler - Efficient - and went the Tech Guys at LR open the bonnet - it shows you care

If you not sure how to do it -

ensure engine is NOT HOT - Luke warm engine or cold is best !

Use Fairy Liquid and a long SOFT paint brush - warm water - brush in well - rise with cold water

try not to use strong De-greasers (GUNK) they can damage the hoses etc

allow to dry - then take for a drive approx 1 hour later to dry all the pulley belts etc.

My engine is covered in red dust at the moment.

Knowing my luck, I'd get major electrical problems doing as you have described or am I just being Paranoid?

I was thinking of using a tooth brush and as little moisture as possible

(I'm a Gold Skywards member if that gets me any points! )

How are you guys down under - flew in last month always love Australia - sometime think would be nice to have 6 months there

Anyway - If yours is PETROL dont even think about it

If its DIESEL then its fine - toothbrush I would feel is a little to HARD in construction - meaning you might hit things getting the brush in
LONG SOFT PAINT BRUSH - Is ideal

You say you have RED DUST covering most things - I would feel Engine components get hotter and Dust road grime builds up

Love the program: OUTBACK TRUCKERS - Hell have a look at the Engines when they have had a road train on - then when they are back - the engine gets a wash

You guys should know - you engine is your life in the Outback

I dont know what the electrics will put up with on the L322 but if they are anything like the 3x petrol p38`s I have had there is no need to pussy foot around. Get out a power jet wash and let rip. Never had any issues getting rid of red dust, mud and crap from the engine and bay and never any electrical issues after. If theres oil involved spray with a solution of sugar soap 1st to get a result better than any special product i have tried. 2007 TDV8 VSE

I have to admit I just spray the engine bay with degreaser and then hose the whole lot off.
Never had a problem to date, it is a diesel so not sure about a petrol.

i pressure washed my td6 engine bay , avoiding the main electrical bits, and it was ok after... ... - .- -.

I use TFR and jet wash my engine bay on a regular basis... 4.4 V8 BMW M62... no problem at all... alternator is water cooled so sits inside the engine and is sealed.. coil packs are totally sealed... what's to not like water...????

I would advise disconnecting and making sure the ABS pump plug is dry, it's a great water trap...

Also if you are going to use washing up liquid then make sure you rinse it very very well, it has a lot of salt in it to soften the water... not great for any FF..

I use Corrosion X in all the plugs, keeps them from corroding when wading etc... excellent stuff but not cheap..
