Landcruiser Amazon and landcruiser V8. Or do you mean the smaller landcruiser?

The wife had an Amazon for 8 years. She loved it. Huge (you can park a Rangie in the boot). Practical (7seats).

It did starship mileage and barely skipped a beat. The only thing that went wrong was the torque converter blew at about 80k and was going again at 170k. Cheapish to fix (£1k).

It is the only car I have ever owned (including all sorts of exotica) where I always had a queue of people wanting to buy it. Anyone who has owned one wants another. When I finally advertised it on PH, I was inundated with calls (from some very scary people).

It was built like a tank. An X5 ran into the back of it once. The X5 was a foot shorter after and left the scene on a low loader. The Amazon? Not a scratch. Literally. I think I could see a crack in the paint but nothing else. Another time a car drove in to an open door. The car lost its front wing and most of the nearside. The Amazon? The door had a small crease in it.

Trouble is that it drove like a tank too. Rumbly V6 diesel, poor ride quality, vague steering. The interior is low rent - lots of leather but acres of plastic wood and switches placed around the cabin by shotgun. It has all the taste and appeal of soggy cardboard. However, it is indestructible. The seven seats are a bit half arsed too strapped to th grab handles when folded. Ugly thing too, with all thhe panache of a Moscowvitz. The downside of their popularity is that they are like catnip for pikeys and are very, very nickable.

The wife would not be parted from it under any circumstances. She has to have her arm twisted to drive my Rangie.

When it finally really had to be upgraded, there was only one car she'd have. The new landcruiser V8.

It is better in pretty much every department than the amazon but is lightyears behind a Rangie.

Note, the Amazon has got a lot smaller on the latest version, may also be less of a tank.

Must admit with Emperor when I had mine.

Never have keen on the fold up 3rd row of seats.
