Is it possible to up an L322 (2005my) into sleep mode while sitting in it?

I am working through tracing a 240mA parasitic drain on the battery and need to check the fuses when the car is in sleep mode. If I lock it and walk away it goes to sleep in about 20 mins or so. (The little light near the gearshift goes out and drain on the battery drops to the above figure)

I have just locked myself inside for 40 mins and the light still didn't go out. I suspect it is sensing me inside, so how do I get around this?

The last few circuits I need to check are ones I can't do by simply removing the fuse as they either set of alarms or stop me from locking the car.

Hi NVB, you could latch the doors and tailgate instead of closing them and either single press the lock button on the remote or double press to disable the ultrasonics (I can't remember which) or remove the ultrasonics fuse, that'll give access to the fuses and tailgate electrics.
Look for any accessories fitted, trackers or such like and disconnect them first if you can.

Thanks. I tried latching the drivers door yesterday, and I have tried both single press locking and double press, but so far I can't get the thing to go to sleep and still allow access to the fuses. Maybe I just need to leave it longer, but it goes off quite quickly when locked up normally. It even goes to sleep if I leave it unlocked with the doors closed, which I didn't think would happen.  RR History

I would imagine that if you press the lock button on the centre dash, then it wont enable the ultrasonics inside. ( cause it knows you were inside when you locked it by pressing the button )

then you should be able to move around inside once its asleep. V8 or else ...

Pressing the lock button once to lock and arm it and then press it again within 10 seconds to disable the interior protection. This is what I used to do when I left my cocker spaniel in it and if one of them doesn’t set it off then nothing will.
If it’s not going to sleep then that could be caused by your parasite or their maybe an option in the BCM to not allow the interior protection disable but I would have to check my Faultmate settings.
This thread shows what is configurable in the BCU and I can’t see a setting to turn off the ability to disable the interior protection only a setting to turn the interior protection on or off.
I used to lock mine, wait a couple of seconds and press it again and I think the red led flashes to acknowledge

I have managed this.

I put black insulation tape over the ultrasonic sensors.

Then I latched the passenger front door using a screwdriver to 'flip' the latch tricking the car into thinking that door is in fact closed.

I had a similar drain and turned out to be an aftermarket trailer module in the boot that converts the can bus signals for the lights into 12V.
