There's a garage near me that sells red, and I was there this morning getting my MOT done. I couldn't believe how many people were pulling up and filling plastic drums

I suspect that they'd have a weak case if they found "evidence" of previous use. What about if like me, you've just bought the car? Who's to say that someone before me hasn't used it? |

You're probably right, but you wouldn't have much of a case if you'd owned it from new! |

unless you do have a legitimate cause to use red diesel - i.e. off the public highway!. The only thing is any trace of red and you have had it! only way out is to drain your tank and re-fill with white. I can confirm that red diesel DOES NOT stain your tank - it only leaves a trace in your filter and can quite clearly be seen through fuel sedimenters, but it won't stain metal, glass or plastic. Personal experience through using red for legit uses in tractors - off the public highway. |
