Just seen in Autocar they have a new TDV8 4.4 on a long term test for 12 mths, should be intresting reading, hope to place an order in Sept for one

I have a 12 month old (now) TDV8 3.7 litre and yesterday drove the new 4.4 litre TDV8 on an LR Test Drive

Holy cow the thing moves

The 3.7 litre is no slouch but this thing is off the scale. I forget what what he said 0-60mph is but this thing defies belief at 3 tonnes fully laden. It just squats down at the back (for a few seconds) and goes. The suspension soon levels the car back out again and whoosh.

The flappy paddle 8 speed box is like silk.

Although I have a friend who has one and is currently reporting mpg somewhere between 3.7 TDV8 and S/C (in other words not great) Might have something to do with aforementioned whoosh factor

Very very nice.......................  Currently running FFRR MY10 TDV8 3.6L and a Disco 3 XS Commercial (tank like but very effective as a Company van). Plus one mint condition Track Day Car in the form of an E36 M3 3.2L Evolution circa June 1996 with lots of go faster bits and only 52k miles on the clock! Oh, plus a few bits to make it slow down really quickly as well! Luvverly.

Our 3.6 does 21 round town 30 on a run our 4.4 does 24+ round town and 35 on a run !

Might I most respectfully suggest that there are better weapons of choice for such an adventure? Taking a FFRR onto a track is a little like teaching a dog to walk on its hind legs:
* It can do it.
* It's an impressive feat.
* It is worth watching.
But:
* It wasn't designed to do it
* It isn't very elegant
* It might fall over at any time.

Loads of folks take their RRS and FFRR to the Ring, just search in You Tube. Have been round it in a RRS SC was great fun bar the front brakes setting on fire in the car park after 2 laps.

The new spec FFRR with active on 20" Rims could be interesting am i right in thinking its lighter than the Sport !  Far to many gone...
