Is there a 4.4 tdv8 check list ?

Hi all,
I have searched and read loads of posts on here, but i can't find a buyers guide / check list for the later cars.
If there is one i apologise, please point me at it Wink

I am off to view and hopefully buy an autobiography black later in the week.
The car looks immaculate in the pictures., and everything electric works, which I will obviously check.

Are there any things I should be checking for with the engine, running gear, or body work ?
I see there can be a rear engine o ring leak, though doesn't look like I can easily check that.
I also noted the potential rust issues around rear arches, so will check those.

Finally, if anyone has a pdf of the sales brochure / price for the black edition I would love a copy.
I have a 2010 brochure but it doesn't cover the 4.4tdv8 or black edition.

Cheers,
John.
Quite excited at soon to be owning a rangey again Cool

I've just bought an Autobiography Black and I'd also like to see the spec and the new price lists if anyone has that.

Sorry I can't be much more help to you, John. I've had enough cars I just did it by feel and common sense. And with one of these as with any Rangey, expect a big bill in the first few weeks of ownership. Something that *never* goes wrong on any car wont work on it. However much you read, you'll miss it. Thanks Stuart.

I've had a bunch of cars too but it's always handy to have an idea of what to check Wink

I hope I don't get a big bill in the first few weeks. Well, not unless it's by choice Very Happy

Does your car have full postcode search or only 1st 4 characters ?
If it's only 1st 4 I hope it can be upgraded (no doubt the first big bill Laughing Laughing Laughing )

John w,

Make sure you get the engine revs up to 2,500+rpm.
Lookout for clouds of exhaust smoke.
Excessive smoke suggests it needs the Turbo drain mod. (Approx £1k ) at a good independent.
If it trips into restricted performance start asking questions.

Thanks Mike, will do.

I found your thread about this http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic40047.html

Is the turbo drain mod a diy job ?
I am mechanically competent, so if a mechanic can do it, so can I given the right tools Wink
I see you said you had a paper copy of the bulletin. Is there a pdf version about yet ?

I have asked the seller if it has been done but I suspect it hasn't or think he would have mentioned it.
It had an mot this week, would that pick it up if here was an issue ?

I assume a Dec 10 regd car is too old for LR warranty now ?
Not that I usually bother, but worth knowing Very Happy Too many toys, not enough time

John w,

Turbo drain mod is in the Wiki under engine section.

It involves removing the front subframe and some very precision drilling.
Not a job for the faint hearted 😂😂.

PS,
Some owners don’t think it is worth doing because they just keep it in check by regularly getting the revs up and thus burning off the oil buildup.

Just read the service bulletin Shocked

- everyone thinks you've blown the engine and smirks at you. If I were buying a 4.4 again if it did not have the mod then I could simply walk away (or get 1500 off the price)

John - send me an email via PM and I'll send you a 2011 price list (not including the black but does inc the 4.4) 405 AB exec seats Baltic and Cirrus

Adrian,
Mine got a bit embarrassing.
I don’t tend to get the revs up very often, but when I did, usually trying to overtake a line of slow moving lorries, I would always leave them in a fog, and be checking around for Police cars.
I argued with JLR until they. agreed to do the work.
