Possibly, but as the car is fitted with Air suspension that is electronically calibrated, perhaps there is a recalibration software that could be developed that would better suit the vehicle which could be activated in conjunction with "Sport" mode?? |

someone on the L322 part of the forum told how an iidtool can calibrate the active dynamics of the suspension (not the ride height)

this is interesting as I find the 322 is anything but wallowy considering its sheer bulk , does the 405 not have a sport button to firm up the ride or anything ? |

If your L405 has Adaptive Dynamics (CVDs) fitted then try switching off dynamic stability control by holding the DSC button for 2 seconds. Whilst I have recalibrated the CVDs on my L322 using my IIDtool, I have found that switching off DSC stiffens the suspension significantly, particularly obvious when cornering. My L322's DSC is forced on whilst cruise control is in use, presumably as a safety feature. |

All L405 will have anti-roll bars but perhaps only the SDV8 has adaptive dynamics although I thought that it was standard across all models. The tell-tale sign for adaptive dynamics is a thin wire harness attached to the top of each front shock /damper. The rears will also have the wires if the fronts do. If no wires then it has standard shocks, not ecu-controlled, so DSC can't stiffen them.

Tall cars tend to have a bit of a wallowy ride but the 405 improved this over the 322 but it’s still a big tall car and that can’t compete with gravity. The SDV8 only, rather than the V6 has the Adaptive Dynamics and IMHO it’s needed more on the bigger engined model to deal with the extra 200kg+ weight of the engine. I’ve currently got the SDV8 and think that it handles similarly to the V6. The V8 has the trick electronics and the V6 has the lighter front end which even things out a bit.

Wise words indeed Basil and I chose the TDV6 over the SDV8 for the exact reason you state - The 200kg+ weight saving at the front made the 4.4 feel very front end heavy and less agile than the TDV6 when driving the same roads.

Setting DSC off can only change the damper setting of CVDs because CVDs are computer-controlled. That LR implemented a firming of the suspension whilst DSC is disabled is presumably to make the vehicle more stable when changing direction to counteract DSC being off to reduce the risk of the vehicle getting out of control. |

Hopefully the new ”Highway” mode and the 15mm decrease of suspension highness when speed more than 100km/h on MY18 will solve this issue. |

Lonfred, can you provide a link to the new suspension specs? |

Sounds like a simple recalibration of Software making it potentially available to earlier models. |
