Help with air conditioning please

I have been experiencing a few strange issues with my AC and was hoping for some input as I’m a little confused.

Over the last few weeks I’ve noticed a gradual decline in the AC efficiency (meaning the air was coming out warmer and warmer). So, I thought it was a slow leak and went to an AC place for a check up. I was advised it needed a little gas but the HP pressure was low possibly meaning the compressor was knackered. After about 20 minutes the pressure rose to normal (LP pressure seemed OK) and I we agreed to “suck it and see”.

Ice cold air for about 10 minutes and then back to warm air.

Switched engine off for about half an hour (went to shops) and ice cold air again when restarting. Then a few minutes later warm air. A little frustrated I floored the accelerator to vent a bit, but noticed cold air again. Tis a bit strange.

I don’t really want to throw a new compressor on hoping for the best so was wondering if there were some checks I could do?

I’m limited a bit as I don’t have a code reader but have booked the big girl into the doctors.

Condenser fan is working (loudly), no obvious leaks.

Can I cycle the compressor on manually jumping something with something?

I’m not quite convinced it’s the compressor. My experience with AC systems has always led to TX valves (usually filter blocked) driers and condenser fouling.

Any help appreciated as it’s minging hot here just now 😀 2007 3.6 TDV8

Thanks for the reply.

That’s exactly what the gauges were doing when tested.

Any idea of a part number? 2007 3.6 TDV8

Cool

What vehicle do you have? (Is that compressor compatible with a 2007 TDV8?)

Sorry to ask but would you mind taking a photo of the part numbers, please. I can’t quite make them all out.

Thanks for your help, appreciate it 2007 3.6 TDV8
