So I had a new windscreen fitted a couple of weeks ago by Autoglass. The fitter discovered the bulkhead trim was bonded to the original factory screen with that hard black sealer stuff. To remove it, him and his mate used a cheese wire to saw through the bonding in order to save the trim.
Trouble is, in doing so they cut through the 6 plastic locator pegs so there is nothing holding the trim on now and it resonates over 40mph.
Autoglass bring two new A post trims by default in case they get damaged when removing them but they don’t seem to account for things like mine. I actually removed the old A pillars before they arrived and didn’t damage them but they left the two new ones as they “come with the screen”.
I now have to buy a new bulkhead trim costing £189 unless I can find a second hand one. It doesn’t have to be new as the car is a 2002.
I’m thinking of asking Autoglass what they are prepared to do.
Thoughts?
