becoming very unreliable, just a phase? | |
Folks kept bringing up the reliability issues with Range Rovers and for the first 18 months of owning my 2010 SC I proudly replied "nope! not in my experience, no problems whatsoever". My luck has run out. Today is the 2 year anniversary. My car is at the dealership service center and has been for the last 3 months. Looking at the events below, is this just a bad bump in the road or should I try to get out of it, sell the car and eat the $8 to $10k that I would be under as this is the beginning of the car becoming expensive to maintain?
12 months ago - couldn't start after engine off for 12 hours, battery replaced
6 months ago - adaptive dynamics fault light came on, resolved (extended warranty)
3 months ago - couldn't start after engine off for 1 minute, battery replaced (dealership/manufacturer warranty)
3 months ago - metal shrapnel discovered in filters, engine declared destroyed, brand new engine installed, car in shop for 2 months! (extended warranty)
3 1/2 weeks ago - cruise control not available and gearbox fault lights came on, resolved (dealership warranty)
2 weeks ago - cruise control not available and gearbox fault lights came on again, constantly got "low battery, start car soon" warning even after a minute or two of engine off, currently car is still in shop
Just got an update and they replaced a switch to resolve the cruise control/gearbox fault issue and that something is draining the battery with the engine off and that's why they still have my car.
P.S. - Car has 93k miles, 8k miles/1 year/~$10k of coverage left on extended warranty, transmission and suspension said to be in great shape.
