England 2003 Range Rover Vogue 4.4 V8 Zambezi Silver
Attn. Android head unit users

Hi and sorry for the title but on my travels I’ve just found this YouTube video

It shows that if you upgrade to an Android head unit you no longer have to have your old head unit attached in the glovebox to get basic functions like fuel consumption, heater timer and clock setting. It looks like it also controls mirrors and pdc etc.

Apparently you pay for and download an app for your android head unit, install a very simple 3 wire usb interface into the loom and then connect the usb interface to the android head unit. It only mentions BMWs but if you look here https://modbmw.com/ibus/ it’s a link that the video creator has supplied for a different interface and it does mention L322 Range Rovers, so all good

Here’s the link to the creators website where you get all of the info regarding installation and prices etc. http://ibus.speedy-pics.de/english

On the website it suggests that it has DSP integration so I’ve fired off an email to him to ask him about it and I’ll feed back when I hear from him.

Please note that I have nothing to do with these products, I just thought them a good solution to an awkward problem.

Great find!

Compatibility list says: BMW Range Rover L30/L322 (1999-2003)

Suppose might be worth a shot for later models.

. Cheers, Greg

I suppose it covers all of the BMW era range rovers so yes well worth a go.

I’m just waiting on the developer to get back to me on the subject of the DSP..... ______________________________

Might see if I can get this up and running on my phone Wink (Resler interface already installed!) .

To be honest it looks fairly straightforward three wires and usb connection at the head unit. I’m amazed it does what we’ve been missing all this time when we swap head units.

Mind you Anglo German relations must be at an all time low as I’ve now emailed the developer twice and had no reply. I’m just curious at the DSP function he mentions, whether it connects to the existing DSP hardware somehow or it has a DSP ‘like’ feature in the software that controls the output to give a DSP experience, who knows.

Given the extremely cheap price I think I’ll just buy the interface with dsp and the app and go ahead and buy the head unit I mentioned in an earlier post and just give it a crack. It’ll be ok in the end Thumbs Up ______________________________

So would I but he’s either ignoring me and thinks I should be doing more homework on the subject or he’s away on holiday.

I’ll bang another email off to him next week and I’ll post his reply if I ever get one..... ______________________________
