Prepping to export 4.2sc

My wife has taken a job in the Caribbean for the next 2 years, so we're looking to move over, and take our cars. Does anybody here have any experience of prepping a UK car for use in Grand Cayman?
Fuel over there is pretty crap, 89 or 93ron, and the speed limit most places is 25 or 40mph.
With my wife's Defender 2.2tdci we had to have the DPF removed, and the ecu modded to R.O.W spec. Is there anything similar likely to need doing with mine? I don't have DPF, but any other systems that are going to not like pootling around slowly, on bad fuel?

Personally I wouldn't bother taking them if it was only for two years. If you wanted to keep them I would look at long term storage where they can start the car and check it over on a regular basis and they could even get it serviced for you.

Would think that any cost you incurred to change the car to take over with you will have to be incurred again if you bring the cars back with you?

Certainly an exciting opportunity though

Good luck! Alex

I'm fairly certain that 2 years will be just a start. Certainly if I find a job in my industry, it will be for a much longer term. Also, we probably won't come back to the UK, more likely move on to Canada or USA.

We don't intend to bring the cars back, we'll sell them out there if we leave. Car values are much higher on the island, but there is a big duty if you sell within a certain period after arrival.

Dunno about the Caribbean but vehicles coming to Oz need to be scrupulously clean underneath - no mud, grass, seeds, etc. If it's been a farm, even more so.
