TDV8 miss fire

Hello guys,

I have been having a shudder! At low speeds, landrover have said it's a misfire probably
Caused by one or more leaking injectors. I have no fault codes logged but I have an iid tool
And the injector balancing looks like this at idle. The tech said it might not have triggered a
Fault yet as it is not that far out of range.

Does number 6 look low? Could this be the problem injector? They all go to the same value
When u accelerate? But at idle they all show different value which I assume is fine within certain
Guide lines but this one seems low.

Any ideas?
The injectors by the way where taken out I assume when the head gaskets where changed.

Thanks in advance.

Steve.

Hi guys

Anybody any have any thoughts? Land Rover as a low speed misfire from one or more
Injectors but the mech who sorts the warranty problem from the garage I bought it from
Can't find fault? Says car drives really well.

Do they all judder slightly at low speed?

All thoughts welcome.

Thanks steve.

I had 2 of the 3.6 TDV8 cars and they were both super smooth from tickover to the red line. What do the numbers mean though? Sure, one looks low but another looks high. It's all relevant to what is being measured

No judder at idle or when stationary when u load the engine in gear which is what the mech did and measured the values.
Injector 6 came out low on his machine but he said anything upwards of 1000 was fine. It's just there when you pull away slowly at light throttle and when you come off the throttle to slow down, which fits in with a misfire.

Cheers Rar you are a star,

But now I have seen yours and you have a low cylinder and I take it no judder that blows my number six problem
Out of the water.

Thanks for taking the time and doing the check 👍

No worries mate.

I should have added my motor is running nice. Very nice.

Only the occasional dip in revs at idle, but I put that down to emulators.

Definitely no engine miss. ______________________________

turn air con/heater off does it still judder?

old granada had this when valve to increase tickover became sticky and could not give a bit extra when air con on.

and the injector reading doesnt show true flow..could still have an issue with one it is better to have and not need then need and not have

Hi

I had a misfire pretty much like yours. Supplying dealer had dealt with some issues prior to putting up for sale by using a specialist who replaced two injectors at enormous cost.
I was using cylinder balance just like you - had the same fluctuating readings (they all went identical with a touch of throttle). The red herring was that the out-of sync injector was sometimes one, sometimes two, or three, and rarely the same cylinders.

My fault ended up being EGR valves despite no EGR codes etc. I looked upon it as preventative maintenance after reading lots of horror stories about EGR's losing their end and ingesting and killing engines so I took the plunge. Got two valves on ebay - stripped it and lo and behold one bank was as coked up as hell. Actually was convinced the n/s bank one had been replaced very recently but I changed both while I was in there.

If it is EGR be prepared to do thermostat housing too which is a pig but when you're that far in it's silly not too.

If I find some pics I will post them. Around 22 hrs it took me in total but I did it over a few nights so not the most efficient. And I was distracted aplenty!

Good luck. 2007 Vogue TDV8 with 255/55/20's fitted

My misfire / judder was the same as jonnyboys, egr valves, changed them and it now runs smooth as liquid velvet.
People have said to me they wouldn't cause the misfire / judder, how wrong they are.
