Frequent traveller on Eurotunnel

Gents what are your views as to whether it is worth doing the above> The minimums are no problem as I would use more than 10 tickets a year its just there is such a difference from standard to Flexiplus - we typically get a train about 6 30 am and come back about mid day so there are additional charges for not travelling off peak any views welcome

I have done the flexi frequent traveller for several years now and would find it hard to go back.

You can turn up +or - 24 hours from your booking and be first on the next train. Plus you also get free food for all passengers and don't need to go near the main terminal. Plus you get a shorter run through passport control.

You don't need many delays or busy days to convince you it's worth the premium IMHO

However, flexi works out very expensive if your towing.......

Well I won't be towing and have been leaning towards the flexiplus as I tend to be a tad impatient Embarassed
We usually stay with my sister on the way back she lives about an hour from the tunnel but even so last year we were caught in a delay and it was awful and for not a lot more seems worth it even without the food Thumbs Up

That's how I got there - had a major delay and just thought 'never again' - and haven't once regretted it.

My wife loves it - even if they've started boarding a train when you arrive, you go past the queue, right to the top of the ramp so that you're almost at the front - therefore get off the train those vital few minutes earlier Laughing

The food is pretty decent - a nice sandwich, cakes, crisps, cold cans, hot drinks etc plus newspapers - not that I would, but probably a tenners worth in the terminal.

The flexi lounge is just a nicer place to be than the main terminal.

I have done flexi plus a couple of times now and really like it.

If you buy 10 tickets in advance with flexi plus, is that still turn up at any time and get on a train? How does it actually work? The regular tickets seem to be for off-peak only.

The standard one is for off peak and you then pay a supplement of 20 quid or 30 quid depending on time you travel there are also certain holiday days - usually weekends where you are not allowed to travel - so if you can plan ahead and not be delayed getting to the terminal they are ok at say 74 quid each way they are 58 pounds cheaper each way first on and off is worth the 58 quid to me let alone snacks and drinks

Years ago it was cheaper to buy a day return on each day of travel than it was to buy a 10 day or more return mad really

It is said that they take the booking by credit/debit card and charge for the full return fare if you don't complete the round trip on the day return ticket. John

You get an account number and set a password, then login and book. As Gary says, other than that they are exactly the same as single purchases of flexi - any time, any day within 24 hours of the booking and you're straight through, no supplements.

The minimum purchase is 10, you can buy more, but they expire 1 year from opening the account, so I just buy 10, then when I've used them, buy another 10.

Trailer is a further £165 each way.

Another tip is that you can add someone else to your account, but only at the time of opening, so if you know someone else who does similar trips, you can share the account - however, either the primary or secondary person has to be in the car - they 'check' this by making you insert the credit card you registered when you get there - but on occasion, I've had to show my passport too.

For the day returns, I assume the Calais tourist board or the big hypermarket Citi Europe are providing some funding - I could be wrong, but most people on a day return are on a booze cruise......
