4.4v8 occasional overheat ??

Right folks , found a 322 4.4v8 with an occasional overheating problem , is this likely to be the weep hole issue or waterpump or something else ? Appreciate its not easy to diagnose off that discription but it appears the 4.4 suffers from very few engine issues , its had the gearbox done already , hence me looking at it as a poss project
Thanks in advance
Simon

1.coolant - loss via gaskets or coolant pipes - Is it losing coolant?
2. Radiator - can be furred up - change to a hella or OEM. Only £100 or so.
3. Fan -operational?
4. PCV hoses?
5. Water pump - make sure it is a good brand first line are sh@t. Get an OEM. Normally it's the bearings which go on the shaft to the belt. Check for leaks and wobble.

There's your starter for 10. Will try and think of others as my brain gets into gear. Lots of these are here on the forums. Search is your friend
