Not entirely sure where they got there data from but the Capri, 944, 205 and Mk2 Golf are pretty much seen as classics already.

The price range of 2 to 10k for a Capri is a bit laughable as well

Always fancied an XM, especially the 3ltr one, but SWMBO would not allow it as the thought of it breaking down or rusting away was too much!

I had three XM's and absolutely loved them. Oddly, for a Citroen, they were all very reliable and never rusted They were probably one of the most under rated cars of the last 30 years. Still good looking today.

I got my first in 1994 and parted with the last one in 2002 but was told by an enthusiast that there is a large, complex and unique steel pressing that's been rusting out out in the rear suspension over the last decade and they are completely unobtainable now, as will be a lot of other components from the suspension. The pressing means the end of the road for the car, so I'm not sure how many we'll see as classics

The problem with the XM in the U.K. was that it was a complete flop, so there were very few even when they were current and with very few people who know how to fix them, most have been scrapped or are beyond viable repair.

Wow. Beautiful cars that we never got over here. Incredibly low prices too.

My experience of big Citroen's has always been great. A friend's dad was a huge fan and I recall the CX25 turbo he had, followed by a big diesel XM and now, even at an age of 78, he runs a C6 which is a lovely car. They're not my cuppa in truth but he's had them for years and swears by them...even against his son's 5-series  Is this where I put the car details and a bit about myself ?........

I like the C6...

2009 D4; 1993 Classic 3.9 VSE

The C6 was a striking looking car but, after having driven around 150,000 miles in XM's, it was not the same thing.

Unlike the XM (and it's 605 twin), it didn't have a unique platform, but was effectively a re-skinned C5/406. This meant it shared the same flawed driving position of the C5 and lacked the interior width, stadium seating and rear legroom of the XM. Being saddled with tax unfriendly V6's and auto only gearboxes, along with 4 doors only, didn't help at the time either. Yes, 2.2's came later, but too late to make much difference. Citroen sold around 1 C6 for every XM sold previously in the U.K.!

Maybe the Facel Vega but surely nothing that's ever come from Citroen? CX Pallas maybe as an engineering feat but it wasn't exactly a looker
