Going mad, advice please

I'll start at the beginning. I booked my car in for a service with Hunters LR. I told them the mileage etc, I was advised by the service guy that it needed an oil, filter, fuel filter and pollen filter change, the cost was £640. Steep I thought, so I went to Dan at Duckworth's and bought the filters, and got the oil from Opie.

Rebooked the car where the service was carried out using my parts, had some hassle regarding stamping the book and clearing the service indicator, clearly not happy that I'd provided my own parts and oil.

Drive the car for an hour when she broke down, she turned over but not firing up, like she'd run out of fuel. it was late afternoon, paid £100 to have the car recovered to my home. The next day I called LR told them the symptoms, was advised to get it transported there, so another £100 spent to transport it there. I explained that they had changed the fuel filter, and now I have a fuel problem.

The car sat in their car park for 2 days. Got a call late afternoon yesterday, I was told the low-pressure fuel pump had packed in and a new one was required, the cost to fit etc £400, but as it's late was told they'll order on but it won't be here until Monday, they know I'm offshore Monday. No problem they said, we can deliver the car to your home next week.

Now the interesting part, I have a tracker fitted to my car, so I can see when it moved, speed time etc. The car was driven at 11 am this morning, for 15 mins, reaching the speed limit of the road 30 mph. Then parked up again. So the car is running, but no phone call, like I said they know I'm away Monday. Call me cynical, but my gut is the fuel filter wasn't fitted correctly or some something else they did wrong. They're upset with me because I provided my own parts so they'll get me to pay another way. They don't know I have a tracker fitted, and they're closed tomorrow. I'm ranting I know but I'm upset. Any advice for the forum would be grateful for what to do next. Dave

Ask them a few questions and don't give away you know the car was driven.
(Could it be that they cleared the fault and it drove though?)

Also insist on the seeing the old part. With both bits of info you can go in for the kill and threaten legal action. Minimum you would want is 2 x recovery fees.

. Cheers, Greg

The problem is I'm away very early hours Monday for 5 weeks, they know that. Face to face would be my preferred option, but I will go to the dealership in the morning, as the showroom is open. I know where the car is, I'm going to start it and take some photos of the engine bay. I doubt any managers will be available tomorrow, as it only showroom staff i guess Dave

When the low pressure fuel pump went out on mine, it was possible to start it again, but you had to crank it for a very long time. ----------
