empire tuning

Very Happy Hi chaps. Just got back from Colchester having taken my 4.4TDV8 up to Empire tuning, to see if they could help me out.
I was having “ Suicide Hesitation” and needed someone to have a look at the EU strangulation issues.
Had a stage 1 remap.
Results are startling.
Throttle response is much improved, and much smoother.
No Hesitation.
The car now feels like a Stallion with his balls released!
All in all a fabulous job, and now an extremely quick vehicle with a breath of fresh air! 👍👍👍

So.
I had a full stage 1 remap.
Including the removal of speed limiters.
The EU engine Choke valve was blanked off, and mapped out. MAP sensor cleaned.
Then vehicle was road tested.
Total cost £300.00 plus the dreaded.
The difference is quite unbelievable.

They’ve manufactured a very solid, well machined blanking plate, with slits in it rather than holes, so it can be removed easily, should it need to be. I swear it sounds better already. It had a 215 all Motorway journey home, and my overall average mpg went from 24.2 to 28,3. I was constantly checking the acceleration from 60, and 70, both hard and soft to see whether there was any hesitation or sluggish pickup. None. The bottom end Torque is now 800Nm, with the Bhp standing at 389.
It reached 115mph with absolute ease, and was told that now the limiters have been removed, IF it’s your thing , 150+ is easily achievable. It’s not mine at all, but it has certainly transformed the vehicle.
Under normal driving conditions with distance and constant speed running, DPF regen still works fine. If it’s just the School run, and town driving you may have to do a forced regen, with something like a GAP iid tool. Very impressive company, although in the middle of moving to much larger premises, and helpful to note that the owner used to work for, and with SVP ( Special Vehicle Projects ) at JLR in the midlands. They also have a very impressive business shipping top end parts to all parts of the world , although from what I saw, predominantly the US, SA and AUS. I was particularly interested in the special projects Orange Disco 3, boasting a 5l V8 they had built. By all means PM me. Cheers

I’ll be frank and honest.
I explained what the problem was,the symptoms of which he recognised, and something was adjusted in the map. I watched him do it, but I haven’t got a clue what he actually did! There were lots of peaks and troughs, of which some were obviously causing the problem! Give me an Old Ford Crossflow engine, and I could’ve told you.
Started up in the frost this morning, and drove straight across the road without crossing my fingers!!

Even in stock form they have spectacular acceleration above the national speed limit (so I've been told) but a word of warning as it's also been suggested the engine uses EGR not just for emissions but also to control the combustion temps under very high load to prevent melted pistons. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Ive read all sorts of smoke n mirrors about this issue. Most of it put about by people who basically don’t understand basic physics and mechanics.
If you blank off an EGR, it is effectively “shut”
In order for standard regenerative processes to take place it must be shut, because if open it would be too cool.
The “melted” pistons have far more of a chance of being melted, with the introduction of hot exhaust gases from this EGR.
Before the frikkin EU, decided to bolt this Censored onto a perfectly good engine, they all worked fine.
My 3.6 is running around like a steam train…. Free and easy.
The 4.4 is breathing much better.

EGR gases are introduced into the cylinders to lower combustion temperatures. This is to reduce Nitrogen dioxide emissions. It's also been used on petrol turbocharged cars for a long time to reduce preignition via combustion temperature control. Combustion temps go too high and puff goes you pistons - that's your basic physics and mechanics. Now obviously to do this on a 4.4 you would have to be running at max power for a while which is highly unlikley on UK roads. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)
