Having a bad day

Sorry Folks,

Just sounding off for a minute and to let off some steam. I transferred my old car (2000 RR Vogue 4.6 P38 in mint condition) as I bought myself the FFRR TD6.

Saturday I picked hers up from the garage having spent £300 on the rear suspension airbag replacement, and she planted it into a lamp post Saturday Night..!!!!

She is ok (and that's the main thing), not so sure about the lamp post or my P38. issue for me is that they are old now and market value is pretty low - Just hoping the Insurance co don't want to write it off as I would not be able to replace it for what they will offer. 50,000 miles, mint condition Rioja red with lightstone interior and all the toys.

Just fed up - sorry.! Big Cry Ash

If your planning on keeping it for a long time you might be better if it gets wrote of. Buy it back from insurance for Pennies then pay a local respectable garage to fix for half the price of the insurance quote.

Could end up with a few £££ in your pocket and still have the P38

Thanks all - especially Gaz Smile

I guess the thing for me is that the car was near on perfect (for a 10 year old car) lovingly maintained by me. It's not uncommon for me to spend 7 hours on a sunny Saturday/Sunday detailing it with clay/DA polishers etc so I'm gutted.

I guess I need to understand that even in good condition, it's not worth a fortune so would it be worth considerably less if it was a Cat D write off. It has given me such good service that I do plan on keeping it and I'll only sell it when it a)dies or b) really need to change at which point - even a good one - it would only be worth a couple of grand I suppose.

It's a mate of mine whio owns the repair shop so I know I can rely on him. As long as it's only essentially panel damage and nothing structural (which I doubt) then I'd probably be ok with that. It's front nearside corner so - Wing (inc inner), bonnet, slam panel, bumper, valence, lights and other bits I guess plus some paint.
