Td6 starting issue.

I fitted a new alternator to our Td6 on Sunday. All was well until yesterday when the car refused to start. My wife called me to tell me, she tried it again and it started straight away. It did the same again this morning. Apparently it cranks over fine but there are no ignition lights showing on the dash.

The alternator change may well be unrelated.

Any ideas?

Looking at other posts it seems that there can be problems with the contacts on the ignition switch. I have noticed a few people have had a situation where they have the ignition lights but the car won't crank over and this has been down to dirty contacts. I guess I could have problems with the contacts that supply the ignition feed.

No ignition lights at all before it is cranked, so I think it must be the switch. Have ordered a new one which should be with me on Tuesday.

Fitted the new ignition switch this evening and it started up fine. Bit of a fiddly job, took over an hour but I could probably do it a lot quicker now I know how it all comes apart. Still cant believe the cost of the new switch, £98-00, even at Land Rover prices, is a rip-off.
