Reading thru this weeks Auto Express Jag are thinking of doing a 4x4 using the Range Rover Evoque's Underpinnings

I think the point is this is possibly the first "Purpose Built 4X4" rather than simply an normal car with 4x4 drive.

With the acknowledged world leader in 4x4 systems "in house" it is about time that Jaguar used some of LR's know how - after all LR has certainly used Jaguar's interior design and suspension expertise to good effect in the last few years. I'm only surprised that there haven't yet been 4WD versions of the current range, especially the R models - I suppose that the extra weight of the extra running gear is what has put them off until now. Could this new Jag SUV also be based on the new FFRR L405 underpinning to help defray the developement costs I wonder.
