Excellent. One of the best engine / gearbox combos in my opinion. Nothing much to worry about on the 4.2 SC other than the aux coolant pump as mentioned above.

Just make sure you use it they don't like sitting around airbags are usually about 100k miles or 10 years and then they might need replacing I did mine on 110k but it has been pretty good for last nearly 4 yrs and 80k - it is now on 145k so enjoy |

After a gearbox failure on my last one at 95k and at my own expense,i thought it prudent to pay extra for a 2 year warranty that covers everything up to the purchase price of the car.

You'll be pleased to know that the SC has a different 6 speed gearbox which is very tough but not faultless, read RRPhil's excellent posts on here regarding solenoids...... 2006 4.2 SC

I was looking at tdv8's initially but as it's a 3rd vehicle and I won't do mega miles in it,I thought I'd be better off with a 4.2.

Had mine from 39k up to 59k now. Apart from the above mentioned Supercharger coolant pump, had little to no major issues

You can get to the plug and check the wiring on the pump.
