Coolant drain and battery disconnect.

Can someone please give me the rationale for disconnecting the battery before draining the coolant? That one has me stumped.

In over 50 years of looking after cars, I have never disconnected the battery when changing the coolant.
Surprisingly I have managed to live to tell the tale. Thumbs Up
Who dreamed up that daft idea?

I agree but I had to ask. What will we do when all cars are electric and need service? That will be a hell of a battery to disconnect.

No doubt it's for the stupids of this world - Lets drain the coolant - I know lets drive to the shops before I finish the job!!
