Pfft.. I did Carnarvon to Sydney- 4700km - in 4 days in a Hillman Hunter when a lot of that trip was on dirt roads - with no air conditioning during an Aussie summer!

Yep - down to the EuroTunnel, then either turn right for Bordeaux or left for the Alps The trip might take longer if the speeding tickets found their way back to the UK 2.5 tanks does sound on the high side - I'd normally see over 550 to a tank even with my lead foot and an SDV8 |

We did that trip three times. We bought the car new in 1971 and gave it away in 2008 (it's still on the road). It was a Hunter GT but with Sceptre badges (called a Royal 660 down here to get away from the high insurance on anything labelled with a GT badge). Pic taken at work in Carnarvon:

Last September I (accompanied by my son as co-pilot) did a little road trip from Europe back to home on the south coast. 1247 miles in 18.5 hours including the cross channel ferry. Obviously helped having an SC and crossing Germany. Whole trip was 2900 miles in 5 days and included smoking brakes after chasing a Ferrari across the Furka Pass. Finished the long day and both agreed we could do it again the next day.
