My other 4x4.......Pug 205 Cosworth

For anyone interested here is the car I have rebuilt over last few yrs, Cosworth 469bhp and close to 500ftlb. Wrc hubs, track control arms, compression struts and a few other WRC bits, rear is 6 degree beam to BTCC spec with added adjustment, close ratio gearbox and quaife front diff with Supra uprated rear diff.

Thanks, I am still dialling in the suspension and have WRC bladed adjustable anti roll bars front and rear, I am slowly stiffening whilst softening the spring rates with new springs each time...once I get to how I want it I have a guy called Dave Wedge who is a chassis setup guru who will fine tune it and either he or Leda will make new bespoke Shox..but yes, it is fast bike fast.

I have a 205 1.9gti which is pretty handy and they were well known for being quick down the back roads but this is another league.

Glad you like it, I know they can be a bit boy racer ish...it was a Max Power cover car back in the day and had lots of Jon boy tat bolted to it back then.

Love this sort of car, i had a 131 sport back in the day and a guy pulled up along side me in Brixton at 2am in a Turbo 2 Renault 5 , I was laughing at his body kit until he blew my doors off from a standing start. I've had a few cossies years back and more recently a couple of Sti Type Rs , the last one with over 500 hp and it could accelerate with a fireblade up to 120ish. The h handling was superb and you had the adjustable centre diff so you could slide it in rear wheel drive or become Mr McRae with it locked up.

Would love to build something like yours.

It does seem that 500bhp and 4wd is about the right amount to worry the fast bikes as they struggle to get them going cleanly and it takes a lot of bottle and a well ridden bike to do that.

I love the 131's...very nice car! Tried a few Scoobies and loved them but never got around to owning one...maybe something I should do now they are much cheaper but wonder if they are as good now...probably need a refresh of lots of worn parts.

Yes, there is a thread on there, I am not sure how it started, I think it was picked up when someone put a pic on face book

I have maintained a thread on Passionford as the car had a thread on there from years ago and I have just added to it...that is approaching 150,000 comments now.

500 bhp, 4WD sounds like my Rangie.

There seems a growing trend recently to show "my other car" I haven't indulged probably because I'm not sure how many would be interested in pictures of a bog standard Nissan Juke Rolling with laughter Geoff

The 131 sport was orange , lovely rasp from the exhaust but the brakes would fade to nothing after 2 hard stops. I was 17 and thought it was the dogs !!!!@@@ I deal with a Subaru tuner over here and they still seem to be the best bang for the buck while keeping you involved unlike a skyline or such. I love my bikes and have a 1000 GSXR that will out accelerate anything but you do come across some ' sleepers ' occasionally that surprise you. 2015 4.4 AB

Wow, I bet that's a great laugh.

Takes me back to my younger years - I had a Vauxhall Nova GSI and my mate had a GTI 1.9, we were forever debating the merits of each... Rolling with laughter

Pretty sure they've both long rusted out now though! Big Cry

Funnily enough a girlfriend has a Nova GSI and I had a 1.6gti with an early chip on it...we used to burn around the country lanes proving whos was fastest.

Sounds familiar!

Don't think the GSI would get close to your 205 cosworth though!

Er, No, I don't think the Gsi would trouble me too much. It outran my friends V10 R8 on a dry road and his was chipped to 570bhp.

I have quite low 3.9 diffs and a close ratio box so the top speed has dropped to 155mph it just gets there in no time as the revs hardly drop from gear to gear...long 1st, short 2nd, 3rd and 4th then slightly longer 5th.

The 205 weighed about the same as a crisp packet when new and my extra running gear weight is a little offset by no rear seats etc...and I have Carbon Fibre panels (apart from doors)
