Seat Belt Warning light/alarm

The seat belt warning light operates when I turn on the ignition but at what point should it light and sound the alarm if I don't put it on. I drove around a shopping car park without my seatbelt fitted but didn't get any warning. Surprised

The cheapest and safest way to disable the alarm is to wear your seatbelt. It is a safety device. Land Rover Addict

Can someone please explain why wearing a seatbelt is a problem in a vehicle as big and heavy as a Range Rover? I am intrigued - I know *I* don't want to go through my own windscreen but...... Land Rover Addict

I have a long drive and have to exit the vehicle at the end. I know it sounds silly but putting the belt on for that 30 secs to take it off again is annoying and the sound of it beeping is enough to drive me INSANE..Disable this on all my cars for this reason. Wear the belt on the road at all times otherwise! You still get the belt warning on the dash if you do forget. Thumbs Up Jordan

Even on the public highway, you don't need a seatbelt on when reversing...

I never go on a public road without the belt on and that applies to everyone in my vehicle.I don't need a nanny to tell me to wear my seatbelt. When I drive on my farm I stop frequently and for short periods and that is when the noise is very irritating.

I tend to put things on the front px seat - which causes the system to complain. Of course, the driver is wearing seat belt

This is silly thing to do though ... if you are reversing and you get hit .....OUCH.

I was just wondering is all as I can't even start my vehicles without my belt on as it feels so wrong! Land Rover Addict

Some of us are old enough to remember a time before seatbelts were even an optional extra - never mind wearing them!!
