United Kingdom 2011 Range Rover Vogue 4.4 V8 Santorini Black
New (first-time) Range Rover owner

Just wanted to say a quick hello - I've just changed from a Disco 2 TD5 which failed MoT for terminal chassis rot and treated myself (?) to a 54 plate TD6. Don't whether it's an HSE (according to the V5) or a Vogue (according to the badge on the back) . . . . or maybe it's both.
Already used this forum to work out the occasional chirp when I back off on the throttle is the turbo coming off boost - I actually stopped the car on the way back from the dealers when I picked it up to check that there wasn't a disgruntled blackbird or something jammed in the grille! I'm already compiling a list of things to do - rubber floormats and sidesteps already on order - the latter so that 'Domestic Zero' can climb in a bit more easily than she does at the moment!
First impressions of my first FFRR? Love it - but having had 3 years with the Disco I know there's a good chance that our relationship will have its ups and downs - and looking forward to putting the forum pages to good use.

Hi and welcome.
Regards your chirp, when you back off the throttle. My car has done this ever since I have owned it, 3 years, it only happens in dry weather.
I have changed all calipers, discs, pads,(twice). Rear hub bushes, front upper suspension arms and track rod ends, oh and gearbox refurb.
the chirp is still there and I can't locate it. I'm now thinking it could be one of the pulleys on the engine, but after 50,000 miles I have done I don't think it is serious Laughing
a lot different to the td5 aren't they. Laughing
best of luck with your new ff.
greg. Thumbs Up

Just to be pedantic...West Berkshire is a Unitary District Council in the county of Royal Berkshire.

Just because the County Council was split into 6 unitary authorities doesn't mean that the old county disappeared.

It shouldn't be anything to worry about, it is a variable vane vacuum actuator on the turbo. From what i have learned it allows the turbo to adapt to engine speed and always provide an element of boost. When you lift off the throttle you get a little whistle.

Thats what i was told when i looked into mine.I thought it was dump valve etc.... It will only happen with Variable Geometry Turbo chargers and if the TD5 has a different type of turbo (which i think it does) the whistle will be new.

Welcome to the club and enjoy Thumbs Up
