Nervous

So I've ever owned a RR ever or driven one for that matter, however today I'm going looking
At a vogue 3.6TDV8 with 150k on the clock and fsh. My last car which was stolen Big Cry was a
X5 and I've decided to try something different. I know range rovers are devilishly expensive to maintain I'm prepared for that however I don't want to buy a donkey.

The car I'm going to view as had so much work done on it, 2 brand new turbos, loads of suspension components and shocks changed, and the list continues ....this draws me more to the car because I believe it's been well maintained.

Just a little nervous and abit apprehensive, any advice would be greatly received

Thanks

Just drive it and then see if you can wipe the silly grin off.
Now also look deeply despite the "I want it" brain signals for any faults.

Haha I'm already grinning at just the thought of owning it Laughing and trying to put that face on to the salesman that says I could either take it or leave it.

Do any warranty companies offer warranty on vehicles at 10yr old with 150k?

Generally no... the best bet would be to be prepared for some ongoing running costs. The cars are well built, easy to work on and if you're not afraid of wielding a spanner and a few tools lots of jobs are doable yourself.
Just because it's had lots of money thrown at it doesn't ensure you're buying a good one. Often huge bills result from poor ongoing maintenance throughout the life of the car. Putting something off isn't advised.

Be prepared to walk away today, there are literally hundreds of Range Rovers of all models and trims out there because of the reputation they have of being costly to run.

Take your time and shop about. If you're buying from some
Sort of dealer you may be able to negotiate some of short term warranty but it will unlikely to be worth the paper it's on if something major goes wrong.

You won't regret the purchase I promise they're truly are great cars. Current: Supercharged 06 FFRR in Java Black

150 k is not too bad

What year car and roughly how much ?

I've had a few RR and too be fair maybe I've been lucky but I've done about 100K in total in them and I've not spent the sort of money I've planned too in maintenance

They have all been reliable , yes they had there niggles but no complaints from me

You can buy my TDv8 if you want onto no6 Range Rover

Hopefully not digressing from the original post but I picked up my first RR today and drove it the 110 miles home grinning like a fool..... amazing piece of kit. I too have moved up from an X5-4.6is - they are worlds apart.

Shop around and get the right one..... I reckon I have! Good luck with your hunt !

So went to view the RR, first time ever driving one and I felt like I was 8 year on on Christmas Day, beaming smile from ear to ear. That said I decided that particular one was not for me, so I've spotted another one some 120miles away but with considerably less mileage 115k not 155k and exactly the same spec and in a nicer colour imo.

Can't get over for a week though and I'm eager, will keep you guys updated.

I bought mine 1200miles away on photos, a compete workshop or book history and independent inspection. At 230,000 km I was expecting the trans life to have limited left and I was right (but price was good). I was probably lucky as it has been great. ______________________________

Hi Gareth,

Unsure what your budget is, but I've sent you some details on my FFRR TDV8 that will be going up for sale shortly.

Get in touch if you're interested.

Continuing the theme of my last post there are loads of great FFRRs about.
Take your time and the right car will just come along and be "the One" without too much hassle. I had mine delivered for free by a small dealer with no deposit down. Turned out to be a great car and deal for me. I had looked at a few and enquiried about a dozen that were good in pictures but not exactly what I wanted.

Decide what you want in relation to spec and colour combination and wait for that car to appear within your budget.

There are lots of owners on here and most will have an opinion and may know of cars that involve a longer journey to view.

Good luck and happy hunting.

So far I have looked at 5 RR and test drove 3.

I have spotted number 6 and I'am in the process of arranging a viewing & test drive, I've asked a million and 1 questions and I love everything about it. It's the right colour and model it's got all the optional extras I wanted and more and he's spent £3500 having both turbo's replaced.

It's got a private number plate which the owner is retaining, he's sent off the paperwork so the DVLA can issue a new reg & V5 so I'm waiting for those to come through before I go down to take a look, it's some 150miles away and if I go to view and I like it I want to drive it home.

I've put down a small deposit which is subject to a test drive and the vehicle being in the description as described and if refundable.

Fingers crossed I will be a fully fledged RR owner very soon ☺

Sounds good Gareth, as others have said a lot finding the 'right' FFRR is working out which spec is what you want and then patiently waiting for the right car. Thumbs Up
