Rear Lighter Socket

Morning all,

Previous owner has done the mod to convert the rear lighter socket to ignition live as per the wiki

But it seems like he's wired it to the green/yellow wire coming out of the small black socket with the white pivot locking arm on it on the left of the picture.



Recently the rear lighter has stopped working, have checked the new relay and it appears that no power is coming from the green/yellow wire with or without the ignition on.

All fuses in the boot fuse board space are good.

So my questions are:-
1. Is this fed from another fuse somewhere, if so which one?
2. If this ignition live is now no longer live what is it meant to be feeding originally that is now not working?

Thought I might as well ask the group first before I have to start ripping any more of the car apart.

The green/yellow wire is the ignition feed used to switch the relay contacts. This wire is fed from fuse 2 of the front passenger side fuse board. From what you describe I would have expected this fuse to have blown for some reason, it's rated at 2A.

Unfortunately fuse 2 is fine and it's a 5amp. Dan

Sorry, 5A you're right.
This is the wiring diagram that relates to the green/yellow wire albeit with the error that transposes the green/yellow with red/yellow.

Hang on so is the wire feeding in to the fuse board via the black plug or feeding out of the fuse board via the black plug? If it's feeding in to the board then I think the wire might have failed where the other guys has soldered into it that's all I can think of at the moment. Will finish washing the car and do some more investigating. Dan

Would be worth re-doing as it may have a dry joint from the previous soldering. John

Nope no power going to the main plug that the green wire connects into behind the light cluster. Any other fuses relating to this one? Very strange how it's randomly stopped working yet I've not noticed anything else not working Dan

Well I think I need to get my coat. Seems everything works fine when the ignition is fully on so I'm just stupid and assumed the first click of the key would be enough to power everything up like in my previous cars. Sorry for wasting everyone's time. <bows> Dan
