Need Alternator Changing

Hi all,

Anyone in South Wales that's handy on the spanners can change an alternator for us on a 2007 TDV8, was told by a so called friend he had a mate that can do it for us today but the promised never materialised.

So I'm now stuck.

Car drives on battery but as soon as its shuts off duh flat battery and my tester says battery ok but alternator is no good.

Thanks. Range Rover quotes.....

Thanks.

I know Hugh for old but he charges full dealer prices and close on £1,000 most probs just to change an alternator.

He changed me £1400 to change 2x EGR valves a few months ago so looking for cheaper to be honest.

1. Don't get a recon
2. Get a denso one
3. £650 doesn't sound too bad if that includes the alternator.

It's a bit of a PITA to get at and is a good 3-4 hours work. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Following on from here http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic42394.html

Last week I was given a name of a garage from a so called friend and last week drove the car to their garage, today the garage called and said..............

We have had a look and have decided not to attempted to change the alternator because its to much work involved.

So now I'm back to square one.

Mine was about £650 to replace including parts, labour and VAT.

Seems to be a normal price for one.

I don't know.

When I drove the car to the garage about 12 miles the battery went flat and since the garage above didn't want to touch it I just collected the car but......

The car started 1st time went into the on screen diagnostics and on idle its showing 11.5v and when driving its showing 12.5v but now the alternator lights on.

Drove all the way home with alternator light on and the car didn't loose any battery charge unlike when I drove it there.

Just placed my battery tester on it and its saying the battery is good and the charge on idle is 12.63v and at 2000 revs its 13.63v and unlike the test I did before I drove it to the garage my tester was showing alternator fault.

So what's going on I have no idea. Range Rover quotes.....

2007 TDV8 alternator is a common problem - they must have had a duff batch - thread here

Might as well bite the bullet & get it done before it costs you a new battery as well Whistle
