My 2006 in Buckingham blue..... | |
Not that it actually every looks blue in any pictures, and in the flesh most think it's black, but I can assure you after having my nose stuck against it for many hours polishing, it's definitely blue.
After picking it up in November last year it's been crying out for some attention to the paintwork so weather finally permitted some work over the last few days.
At 11 years old it's far from perfect with the usual scratched, scraped and stone chips and the very first job was to remove, what I can only assume was some sort of nail varnish that had been applied to various scratches by I'm guessing a previous owners pet blind chimp. It was horrible, not even close to the correct colour and the chimp was obviously given the instructions to apply liberally, then given a 2" brush to do so with the tiniest of marks absolutely plastered over.
So after several washes, nail varnish removed I then moved on to a multi stage paint treatment starting with a good going over with a claybar.
With all the tar removed the next stage was a good going ever with my rotary polisher and some Farecla G6 rapid grade paste compound, then on to the Farecle G10 finishing compound then a few quick coats of Autoglym super resin polish by hand.
I haven't bothered going any further for the moment as all the scratches etc all have to be treated so not finished yet by a long shot, but here's how it looks at the moment, and I'm pretty happy so far.
