Replacement of defective Hevac

Hi to all
In various posts i read that the replacement of the hevac, most of the times for facelift reasons,is just plug and play.
Wondering if the hevac has to be replaced because is defective the new one will be still plug and play or will need reprogramming????????????

Many thanks for your kind reply
