Every time I unlock my Rover the alarm goes off, help!

I have a 2003 Range Rover HSE L322, the key wouldn't unlock or lock the doors electronically. I put a new battery in the key and synced it to the Rover, it now works but when I unlock the car the alarm goes off every time. Any idea what's causing this??

Also the lock in the driver door handle lock doesn't seem to do any thing, is it common for this to break?
