Any opinions on what kind of black paint I should use?

I was thinking just a few coats of high gloss enamel paint without a lacquer might do it.

You won't get a lacquer to adhere to that very well.

I has some Porsche design 90's mirror polished and the advice was to just seal them with a quality wax and just re polish as and when.

If you do get lacquer on there it will soon go milky and need stripping again.

I like them though.

I was told recently that you should only diamond cut a wheel 3 time before you affect the profile etc of the wheel.

I'm not going to lacquer the polished face of the wheels, just leave that polished, it was the other bits, the sides of the spokes I'm going to paint, they just have black tape on them now to see how they look, just wondering if I would get away with an enamel paint without lacquer as I'll be painting up to the edge of the polished surface and don't want to end up with too much of a paint/lacquer ridge where the paint ends and the polished surface begins.

So finally, 5 months after picking up a set of 18" wheels, I've eventually finished polishing and painting them, and fitted them a few weeks ago.

Any opinions on the end result?

They do look good, but they look a bit "lost"

Thanks Mikey, I agree, I'm happy with the way they turned out but as you say, a little lost and not really filling the arch.

They don't look quite as bad in real life and the wider tyres (285's) that I fitted compensate slightly, (I have a bit of a thing for wide tyres........ , memories of youth).

Looks better if I park it in access mode.......

Can't really complain, I picked up the wheels including a set of part worn tyres and full set of wheel nuts for £85, just a bit of paint, sanding, polishing and time to get them like they are, I had a full set of good Hankook Ventus ST 285/55/18" tyres that I took of my Navara before it went to Nissan heaven.

No issues with driving, no real change noticed.

if you have an iidtool you could lower the body and then those wheels might not look so 'lost'......... ... - .- -.

But that's not a bad idea at all, I'll see how the whole set up grows on me as it is over the next while.

Or maybe a nice set of white wall tyres......

Having said that, if I was to be doing anything to the suspension I should be trying to fix the leak......
