Fuel gauge fixed and an end to the (turbo?) squeal. | |
Just got the car back from work carried out to pass the mot. While it was in I asked that they repaired the non working fuel gauge. It turned out there was a broken wire on each of the sender units (design fault?) and was an easy repair. They also changed the engine oil and filter and serviced the aircon. I also asked them to give an opinion on the ever present squeal that was noticeable at around 2000 rpm and seemed, after reading many posts on this and (ahem) other sites, to be a sign of an on its way out turbo. I was puzzled when the mechanic asked 'what squeal' and more than pleased when I listened to a not only squeal free engine, but one that was sounding smoother than I had ever heard it. I can only put it down to the aircon service having a beneficial effect on the compressor etc and time will tell if I have heard the last of the squeal. QUID FACIUM TIBI
