For anyone who's found their LED bulbs won't fit through the hole in the back of roof light panel, try fitting the bulb from the front after taking the lens cover off & then fit the bulb holder to the back of the bulb.

It's a slight faff, but solves the problem if the bulb is slightly too large in diameter.
Doesn't help for the main centre light when the bulb is just too long - lol Paul,

I ended up enlarging the holes with a taper reamer like this. I had it in my electronics toolkit..

Is there a trick to removing the rear map area ding light assembly? I have the front map light assembly out.

I have tried using a screw driver to push on the edge doing plates. But can’t seem to get it out. ______________________________

Disregard. I eventually got it out.

Interesting, as indicated by P38A (Ron) above, the hole for the middle bulb front and back seats map light assembly was smaller. It was too small for the LED bulb. I didnt have the tool referred to by Ron, so drilled it out with 13mm drill bit. Problem solved. ______________________________

Ive been putting off this job for about 18mths thinking it was going to be difficult.

It wasn't very hard at all. I did break one of the upper tail light lenses retaining clips. I just stuck it back on with a dot of silicone.

I watched a YouTube vid on removing the front map lamp assembly. Popping off the squarish panel behind the light allows you to get your hand in behind the lamp assembly and push it out quite easily. The rear seat map light assembly wasn't as easy, but I got there in the end.

We go camping a bit and the cargo area is opened quite often. Im amazed at how much heat the incandescent bulb emit, which is an indication of how much power they draw. There 15 of these bulbs around the car, and most of them light up when you open a door. So this should help save the battery a bit. ______________________________
