It's very hard to make out from the Microcat diagram as they have included every lead known to man.. if it doesn't go to the starter then I would, in light of the faults you've encountered, surmise that it must go to the alternator..

I no longer have an L322 to trace the wire, but you do Wink On my Range Rover the big wire goes to the winch and the other battery Very Happy .... I'm not helping very much am I? Mr. Green Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

I think it's this cable (item 5) part no. LR012377 and it does go to the starter motor -

I may be wrong as miggit says there are loads to choose from Thumbs Up ______________________________

Is it a cable to the glowplugs?

Found this diagram in the 2007-2010 Workshop manual which shows the "flat fuses": 2

3 is the ignition switch and 6 is the ECM

Ok round 33 and a 3rd........

I purchased a battery and alternator tester and its saying the new battery is low in charge and the max voltage is 12.4v and the alternator is Censored .

Put the tester on the old battery and the tester says its ok but low so swopped battery's car starts and the readings are the same.

So now I'm more leaning towards the alternator Sad

Here is a pic of the live terminal showing the blast pack and the 2nd red lead.

So I'm more inclined to say the 2nd lead is going to something else but where? Range Rover quotes.....

Ah right, the lead on the bottom is there. The other lead is still a mystery as there wasn't one there on my 3.6, see earlier pic, so possibly a winch connection as said, can think what else would need a lead that big, the rest of the cars electrics are on the other 2 leads. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Yes so I'm looking for an alternator now.

Anyone know of the type number? Range Rover quotes.....

It's a denso unit, can be had from either ECP or carparts4less (same as ecp but were cheaper) there are 2 types available depending on the pulley type and how many ribs are on your drive belt.

Microcat has it at LR026344
Looked on Lrdirect as well and it is £204 for the Denso unit.

Would double check with Dan via your vin that this is the right part number tho. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Your cable looks very much like an after thought add on... for a kick off if it was a factory lead it would be red.. not black.. so either you've got the mother of all stereo's lurking in the boot, or I think that it would either be a winch power cable or jump start cable, I can't think of any other add on item that would require such a heavy lead...you haven't got a couple of megawatt spot lamps fitted have you? Rolling Eyes

It could be a large inverter... got and 13 / 16 amp sockets floating around? Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!
