EXTERIOR REAR VIEW MIRRORs

I suppose that in my 2002 L322 the exterior rear view mirrors are power fold correct?
Only one (driver side) LHD work but, not fixed (came and go) when I hit the door button .
What can be the problema? Is this expensive to repair?
Cheers

Antonio

Try this http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/post162506.html#162506

It's a common fault on older cars, I just left the mirrors out and never folded them on mine, if you don't want to strip the mirror and you fit a replacement you will find that they are very expensive £200 second hand / used and up to 3 times that new, depending on what spec mirrors you have.

FYI you could get repair parts (gears, motor cases, etc.) for the BMW X5 mirrors, which I believe have the same folding motors as the 2002-2005 ffrr... also the micro switch can play up inside the mirror. Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

Chances are that if the mirror folds in but immediately folds out again, it's an issue with the microswitch inside the mirror housing. There's a link in the Wiki about it.

One of mine was doing the same. When I pulled the back of the housing off to get at the microswitch, I found the arm had come off the microswitch. Just reattached it and the mirror works again. 2004 Vogue TD6 - Remapped Smile

A.Pires says that only one mirror is moving, so I suspect that it's a gear problem in the mirror... if one mirror doesn't fold the system goes back to it's previous state... so the working mirror will go back out again.... yes it's technically a micro switch fault as one is not showing the closed position, but I think you'll find it's because there is no movement on 1 of the mirrors Thumbs Up Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer...
