2008 TDV8 Central Locking Issue

I know central locking issues have regularly been brought up but even though I have trawled through old posts on various forums, I haven't found another with the same symptoms as mine.

My car had a new battery the day after I bought it 2 years ago and I've had central locking gremlins since. Coincidence? Unfortunately I do not know if there were any problems for the previous owner.

Since owning, locking would work or it wouldn't. If 1 key worked then so would the other. If it wasn't working then neither key would work so to me, this says issue is car related, not the keys themselves. When unlocking manually, sometimes the whole car would unlock other times only the drivers door would unlock and set the alarm off until key put in ignition.

Now for the last couple of months, I can only open drivers door manually and alarm goes off every time until I get key into ignition. The other doors can then be unlocked via the button on dash.

I work random hours so the 2am alarm beeps will start annoying the neighbours before long.

I have the car in my warehouse today and I'm on a mission to sort this before the weekend.

Any advice welcomed and I will update as the day goes on.........

As a temporary measure, is it possible to get rid of the alarm sound?

Sorted the alarm noise now. Still the main problem to sort.
