Restricted Performance After Fuelling

Hi All,

Heading down south this morning. Left when it was snowy, car was great feeling happy I own a FF! Anyway. Got to Junction 38 on the M6 to fill with fuel. I was a little low by that point and put 100 litres in (I know it shouldn't get that low but it was cold outside).

Got 15 miles down the road and the restricted performance light appears and it does as it suggests. I pulled over, cleared the fault only for it to return a few seconds later. Idle is very rough and it is mis-firing. I have attached a pic of the OBD readout, It was the fault at the bottom that appeared first and seemed to cause the rest.

Anyway, I had it recovered to a local garage and there it waits for them to look at it. Any ideas on what it could be would be appreciated.

crank or cam position sensor up the duff possibly leading to a mismatch in the readings. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Update for the Garage. They think the timing chain has slipped?? Is this common/possible? I think it is the Bank 2 Cam 2 sensor. If they replace that then see if the fixes the rest of them.

Any suggestions welcome.

Cheers

Kev

It has rattled since I have had but did the usual checking on forums and it seemed to cause no issues. The car hasn't missed a beat before this happened and there was no sign of it happening. I still think its a sensor and the garage aren't really sure what they are doing.

Anyone had a timing chain replaced? How much did it cost?

I would have expected some other damage if timing chain had slipped so my first thought would be camshaft sensor.

So, After no car for a week. The specialist has had a look on their systems and it would seem something has slipped as all sensors are providing readings. Going to do a compression test to check they Cylinders are ok and then set about opening her up to have a check what has gone wrong.

How much have people paid in the past to get the timing chains/tensioners done?

I've just been quoted £1800 for chains, tensioners ect and cam cover gaskets and a couple of other seals..thought that was reasonable for the amount of work involved 👍

Thanks Alistair,

Sounds reasonable. Was that at an Indy?
