Definitive answer needed Allcomms vs IIdtool

Hi, I'm got this ongoing issue with my fatty deciding to go into 'transport mode'

I've searched Google, PM'd Steve at IIdtool and emailed storey Wilson.

But before I take the plunge and buy one, I wanted to reach out to people who have used these systems;

Can either of these access and change the transport mode setting?

Alternatively, if there's anyone near by willing to plug in and have a look, that'd be greatly appreciated and rewarded with beer tokens. Thumbs Up

Cheers

Hi,

Taken from the IIDtool instruction manual.

"Transport Mode activation, deactivation (L322-02, L322-06)
This routine will allow activation or deactivation of the transport mode for both the BPM Body Processor and LCM Light Control ECU’s."

Hope that helps

Don't know about Allcom, but IID tool is excellent - go for the Bluetooth version though - far easier to use and much better for viewing live values. 2006 (56 Reg) 4.4 V8 Vogue In Bonatti Grey (Gorgeous!!)

Hi,

What is it doing that indicates that it is dropping into transport mode?

there maybe other diagnostic machine's that co do this to, not sure if all coms can off the told of my head

I belive BMW scanner is quite good (not got round to installing mine yet) but I believe it can recode speedo pod which is quite an advance item and it's a lot cheaper on eBay than the others

Guys, many thanks for your replies.
In the meantime I've stumbled across this.
http://www.fullfatrr.com/gallery/albums/us...9-RR02.pdf
On pg12 it details transport mode.

But I've also found this

He explains the symptoms of transport mode well.
IIDTOOL BT looks very good.

Cheers guys

Hi Jake,

Transport mode also affects the interior lights and some locks.

I asked because I had a situation whereby my interior lights would go off when I opened a door but would come on when I closed it so it was backwards, I also couldn't lock a couple of doors with either the remote or the centre console button.

I contacted GAP who were excellent, they delved deep into my cars ecus by downloading the information they needed into my IIDtool and found that I had the wrong firmware in my BCU.

It turned out that the previous owner had taken the car to a BMW independent and they had upgraded the firmware when they plugged their BMW specific diagnostics into it. My year Range Rover was supposed to have V4 firmware but actually had V10 firmware which was causing all of the problems. Hats off to GAP who uploaded V4 to my IIDtool and gave me very specific instructions to flash my BCU, all has been well since.

So from my experience I would only go IIDtool not only for its abilities but also the customer service. I do also have a program and cable called PA Soft 1.40 and have coded a used instrument pack to my car, in reality you only have to change the VIN. So there are others out there that can do other things but I would say that they aren't as intuitive or as easy to use as the IIDtool.

GAP do go well beyond in helping out people who've bought their IIDtool as many on this forum will attest to.

I meant to ask what symptoms is yours displaying, is it suspension?

Have you had the battery disconnected for any reason?
