Supa Glass

Me and the wife have been looking at an item called 'Supa Glass' for a while now. It's a thin membrane which goes over the glass and stops it from shattering. I've been looking at it for a number of reasons: such as people breaking in as I live on a main road with my drive coming off it, cars smashing into me and glass injuring my children etc. But has anyone had first hand experience with it or similar, as I don't want to get the cars done and it doesn't do what it says on the tin. When I get my RR I would more than probably get it on it, as the village which I live in is notorious for neds which I have crossed once or twice.

After watching the videos and reading up about them I'm confident it would work like it says, but another opinion would be great.
Thanks

If your area is really that bad you could always consider an armour plated range rover. They often come up for sale on the used market. Only downside is the extra weight being lugged around! *Gone* Discovery3 HSE

Australia 2008 Range Rover Supercharged 4.2 SC V8 Rimini Red

Not sure when it happened but around 2005 all FFRR's came with double glazed side windows for noise insulation, as an added benefit these are shatter proof.
Basically came around the time of the face lift. If you drop a side window you can see if it's made from two pieces of glass bonded together , if so then no need for SupaGlass or whatever. 2008 MY Supercharged

2010 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Stornoway Grey

Royale, this time last year I was at an Scottish Land Rover Owners Club event where there was a Disco2 that had been completely kitted out with SupaGlass. Unfortunately the owner got out of his car, leaving a baby in the back in a child seat, windows closed and the key in the ignition.................... after a few minutes the car self locked (I believe it was a problem on some Disco2's). Anyway the call went out asking anybody had one of those emergency glass breaking hammers with the sharp point on it. It was VERY difficult to break the driver's side glass, but we did manage eventually and what happened was also impressive - the glass stayed as a sheet but was completely shattered and held together by the film BUT as soon as one of the guys tried to move the "glass" to reach into the car for the key the window fell in on the drivers seat and the film broke releasing millions of razor sharp shards into the seat fabric and which then needed a vacuum cleaner to clean up. The guy had to drive home with a window then with a sheet of polythene in it and sitting on a rucksack to save his backside from all the splinters of glass! The baby was rescued safe and well having slept throughout the drama Cool 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

@Royle
SupaGlass was a tickable option on the Autobioghraphy from 2003+ The main benefit like you say is to prevent entry into th vehicle, smash the window all you like but you still cant get in without a lot of effort. Also in a roll over sittuation arms & hands will be kept inside the car - However it is designed to be easily pushed out so you can still get out of the car.
I have it on mine, from factory. Can't say I've "tested" its features though.

My advice would be to go fot it for the peice of mind factor.

@Axle
The side windows were never double glazed as far as I'm aware - but the thickness did go up by about 50% to cut down on noise. I think they were "Double Laminated".

David - It says the windows ws easily push out if shattered.
Dan - Seems better than already on, so will probably get it done early in the new year, thanks.
kkqd0298 - The area I live in isn't Baghdad bad, just a select few creatures in the village and town next to us like being tw@s
Tim - Glad the baby was ok, a flaw in the product, but then the initial smash didn't make the glass fly everywhere.

Can you post a picture? If you have double glazed you must have something magical - That or they are Double Laminated.
